‘Ontoawinner’ Alan Swinbank Yard Visit – Sat 3rd March
I had a long drive up the A1 this morning past Scotch Corner in North Yorkshire, to meet the Ontoawinner syndicate after being invited due to winning their Fazza competition, and see the horses they have in training with Alan Swinbank.
You might not be able to tell from the photo’s as I’ve touched them up in Photoshop, but it was thick fog, which limited viewing significantly.
It was a shame really, as everything else was spot on. Mr Swinbank was very approachable and happy to talk to us all morning, his staff friendly and the Ontoawinner lads also very friendly. Looking forward to going to watch Fazza race with them.
Mr Swinbank’s yard is very impressive, all brand new purpose built, made of Yorkshire stone.
In typical English weather, on the way home going A1 South, about 30mins away from the yard, the fog cleared and it was sunny, with the in-car display stating it was 12 degrees.
The 3 horses Ontoawinner have with Alan are: Mitchell’s Way, Eutropius (unraced), and an (as yet) un-named 4-year-old gelding by Trans Island. They all looked well, and we saw them all do some work on the gallops. Looks wise Mitchell’s Way took my eye.
If you are wanting to, or are thinking of getting involved with racehorse shares, Ontoawinner have 10 horses with different trainers across Yorkshire. I can recommend them.
