All Weather Competition in association with William Hill

November 27, 2012 Leave a comment

Here are the details for the All Weather Tips Competition.

To be run, as a one off, on Wednesday 28th November.

Who gets the biggest combined odds (same as an accumulator, except you don’t need all your horses to win here, but obviously that’s what you are aiming for) from their selections is crowned the winner. So you can play it safe with short prices and hope most win, or go larger and maybe only need two or three winners. Choice is yours.

Thank you to WILLIAM HILL for kindly donating a Free £25 Bet for the winner.

Kempton

Examples:
You have a 2/1 winner, a 5/1 winner and 10/1 winner = 197/1 Treble
Two winners 4/1 and 3/1 = 19/1 Double
Four winners 4/6, 2/1, 5/4, 7/2 = 49/1 Accumulator
& obviously only one winner = single at whatever odds it was.

The 6 Races we are going to use are:

LINGFIELD 1pm, 1.30pm

WOLVERHAMPTON 1.40pm, 3.20pm

KEMPTON 4.30pm, 6pm

ONE horse per race, and WIN Only.

What’s in it for you
Other than the £25 FREE BET courtesy of William Hill and the Official Frankel DVD courtesy of myself….
Last times tips pages were retweeted many, many times, so you get exposure, maybe more followers and the pleasure of winning if you choose the right horses. Plus it’s good to compare with other people, and all on one page makes this much easier.

DEADLINE for Entries is 10.30am Tomorrow (Wed). But would be good if the majority were entered by tonight please.

Hunt Ball – pic: Telegraph

This weekend I’ll be keeping faith with horses I’ve backed before.

Today it’s Capone and True To Form, both have been #HorsePointers and both done well at Kempton.  First time I chose True To Form it was after a 200+ day lay off and having first run for new trainer.
At 33/1 he finished 4th. Next time out I was on again and he finished 2nd at 20/1.  Capone won at 11/2, flying home under Hayley Turner.  Both do better at Kempton, but worth a small chance today for low stakes.

They are both stepping up to Listed class today from Class 3, and both at Lingfield.

Capone (8/1): All-weather form is: 35231613131361.  At Lingfield only is: 53133.  Won 3 of last 6 at today’s Distance.

True To Form (12/1): won 2 of 3 races at the Distance on the All-weather. Won a Class 2 in March this year at Kempton, so only stepping up 1 Class from that.  Won 2 of last 3 at Distance.

Also I’m going to have a dabble on Hunt Ball (9/1) in the Paddy Power Gold Cup.  5 places each way. He’s won 3 of 4 races on Ground that’s either Soft or Good to Soft, his Chase form over the extended 2m 4f is: 111111.  His biggest test to date was last time out at the Aintree Grand National meeting, where he finished 3rd in a Grade 1, today is Grade 3.  He won at this year’s Cheltenham Festival which was the first time I’ve backed him.

Two for tomorrow in the Racing Post Hurdle at Cheltenham:

Yet again both up in Class, and both RISKY. The stats are there though, the only problem ‘should’ be whether they can mix it at a higher level.

Dark Lover (12/1): I put this up last time out, when a winner at Cheltenham, same jockey this time.  Hurdle form at 2m 1f: 111 on Ground ranging from Soft to Good.

Hi Dancer (40/1) One of my favourite horses, and he loves going left handed over hurdles.  He’s won his last 4 hurdle races at 2m 1f, also on Ground Soft to Good. Partnered by regular jockey 10lb claimer Craig Gallagher.

Both have won at Class 3, this race is Class 1 (Grade 3)

All prices this morning: Bet365

Please remember these are just my bets, caution if you take notice and invest in them.  My win strike rate isn’t impressive.

NACARAT - Pic: Daily Mirror

Welcome to my Blog…
Nothing major today, but I’m trying a new format.

If I have any bets today, it will probably be Loyalty.  Below are just my observations.

Big race of the day is the Racing Plus Chase at Kempton…  Last year I backed Nacarat who was 3rd at 5/1.

This year I reckon it’s between him and Planet of Sound.  Both are over 4/1, but I’m leaving them alone in terms of an actual bet.  Nacarat is dropping 2 grades from his last race, which was the King George VI Chase 64 days ago. Nacarat (Won) 9/2

2.50 Lingfield, I think Palace Moon can win again after his easy C+D win earlier this month.  Oasis Dancer is the 6/4 favourite, and this race has only been won by a favourite only once in the past 5 years.

3.20 Lingfield, Another Listed race worth nearly £19,000, same as the 2.50pm.  I’m going to stay loyal, and go with Loyalty for Derek Shaw.  He has won 6 of his 18 all-weather races, aswell as being placed 8 times.  If Loyalty doesn’t win (9/2), I’ll also put forward Tinshu (5/1).

Kempton Tote Quadpot (I’ll try):

  • Nacarat
  • Grumeti
  • Zaynar
  • The Reformer

Did You Know:
Paddy Brennan was going to change his name via deed poll for Cheltenham?
Coral approached him to change his name to their founder Joe Coral, so they got the publicity of the name appearing in all the racecards, newspapers etc…
They were then going to place £200 bets on all his rides at the Festival and donate any winnings to Racing Welfare charity…   This was blocked by the BHA!  The minimum Coral were going to donate was £10,000 regardless of any winners for Brennan. #boringbha

Today’s Interesting Stat:
Mark Johnston has trained the winner of the 1.45 Lingfield for the past 3 years!
Today he runs Za’lan.  I’ve just checked the betting and it’s 4/11. #leavealone

LINGFIELD

The two I did last night were mainly just because I’ve been on them past couple of runs, and they’re both back at Kempton today, both with different jockeys aswell.

2.30 – Vhujon 4/1 (Dominic Fox) 3rd
5.15 – Rightcar 6/1 (Richard Hughes) 3rd

Plus each way Double.

Then today, using a Totally Different method to my normal one (so will either be an improvement or disaster) I’ve picked:

Lingfield
1.05 – Look At Me Now 7/1 (each way) 3rd
1.40 – Royal Bajan 8/1 (each way) unplaced
2.45 – Palace Moon 7/2 WON
(Seek The Fair Land has good course stats to suggest a place today)

Kempton
3.00 – Fistful of Dollars 6/1 (each way) unplaced

Not advising anyone goes with me on these bets….

3.10 – Hold on Julio 10/3 (Won)
3.10 – Master of the Hall 7/2 (unplaced)

LINGFIELD

Classy Lass Third Race + Loyalty (Derek Shaw Racing)

CLASSY LASS on the way to the track

Two-year-old filly, Classy Lass had her third race yesterday at Wolverhampton, in a 7f Maiden.

We were expecting her to build on her two previous visits to the track and show her true ability.  All was going well, and she was just off the pack, until the final bend where she hung right and seemed to lose her action.

As a precaution jockey Mark Coumbe eased up on her just before the final furlong marker, incase something really was a miss.  As you could see on the AtTheRaces pictures he was concerned and continually looking down towards her near fore leg.

CLASSY LASS being paraded

After the race she seemed distressed and wasn’t walking her usual smooth self.  Hopefully she is fine, as the vet checked her out on course and Derek Shaw said he would see how she was over the weekend.

Next time out will be in handicap company, and she should be awarded her mark on Tuesday.  If she gets the all clear from Friday’s race, she could be back out before New Year.

Ownaracehorse.co.uk

I really like going to Wolverhampton Racecourse, it’s a shame they never get a crowd they deserve, and the weather has always been about -5 (slight exaggeration) the times we’ve been, which won’t help their cause to get numbers through the door.

Betting:
As for the on course bookmakers last night, of which there were only 8 of them…  For the first race, where the favourite (Baccarat) was 1/3, only four were offering each way betting (one even at a 1/6th of the odds!).   All were poor prices compared to the industry SP’s.  Yet the ones who were only offering win only, were doubling and trebling the SP, but what was the point, when the chances of anything other than the odds-on fav winning were very slim.
To me they didn’t want to take bets on that race?

On another note related to betting prices, the best option has to be online as you get Best Price Guarantee.  One horse last night drifted to three times the price it opened, yet if you had bet in your high street betting shop you wouldn’t have got that increase, just the same as you wouldn’t had you bet on course.

But then on the other hand I’m continually reading on Twitter where online bookies are limiting people to no more than £25 per bet, yet on course I’ve seen people bet over £200.  Even at a Point to Point meeting earlier this year they were taking £100 bets!

Surely something needs to be done about this.  Racing can’t live without betting/bookies, and bookies can’t live without customers, yet it’s the customers who fund both the bookmakers and courses, and they are getting a poor deal.

I can’t see anything changing though.

LOYALTY at home.

LOYALTY

A very impressive performance by the 4-year-old today, under a superbly timed ride from Joe Fanning.

Both he and trainer Mr Shaw both only went to Lingfield for the one race, and it paid off as Loyalty came from last position at the start of the home straight, to carve his way through the 9 other runners to win by a neck.

It was a thrilling finish the way he showed an amazing turn of foot to fly past everything in front of him.
Making that 4 wins from his last 7 races, and only out of the top 3 once.

A quality horse, well done to all associated with him.

No bet, but hope BIG BUCKS can win again

UPDATE:
Big win from LOYALTY, but no other successes.  Disappointed with the Football.

Thanks for looking at my Blog.  Welcome to new followers, and thanks to existing followers.

A couple of very speculative Football Bets today.  A big price all odds against Treble, and an odds-on Treble.

Hoping to get back to winning ways, after a blank last Saturday.

16/1 Risky Treble
Bristol City to beat Forest (drew)
Portsmouth to beat Southampton
Sheff Wed to beat Huddersfield (drew)

Just under 3/1 Treble
Chelsea to beat Wigan
MK Dons to beat Preston
Crawley to beat Crewe (drew)

Only Small stakes on those today.

We also have a Guest Football Treble today, via @PaulJWatson72
Who has sent me 3 Draws, totalling 62/1
Swansea, Sunderland & Norwich

TWO HORSES:

1.25 Ascot – Renard 3/1 (2nd) Massive effort from Renard. Looked out of it, but battled, and finished 2nd. Bad jump at the last.  8lb rise denied him.

1.50 Lingfield – Loyalty 6/1 each way (WON) Travelled last all the way, cut through the field under a super ride from J.Fanning and finished like a train!
