As you can see from the prices, the Bookies don’t think any of these will win. I won’t go through the reasons why, but I think they have slim chances of placing, and you never know, one of them might spring a surprise.

A bad day yesterday, only one 6/1 winner, 25/1 2nd and 4 other places.
Win = 11%, Place = 28%
Don’t know if it will produce results or not, but I’ve been a lot more selective today, picking less horses and only certain races from different meetings.

4.45 (Class 4) Stellar Express (3/1) won 2-2 at Course, both G-S, both at Distance, won & placed at Class.
RIPON (Good)
7.40 (Class 4) Galician (2/1) placed on Ground, won 3-4 at Distance, won last 2 handicaps both at Class. Indego Blues (14/1) 25% win & 75% place at Distance, won on Ground. Takealookatmenow (10/1) 25% win & 75% place at Distance, won on Ground.
8.10 (Class 3) Fast Shot (8/1) 57% place on Ground. 36% win & 64% place at Distance, won 1-1 at Course, placed at Class.
9.10 (Class 5) Mohawk Ridge (6/1) won & 55% place on Ground, won & placed from 3 tries at Distance, 52% place in handicaps, placed at Course & 37% Place at Class.
KEMPTON
7.30 (Class 6) Golden Compass (9/2) won & placed from 2 runs at Course, both at Distance & Class.
8.30 (Class 4) Venetian View (10/1) won 2-2 at Course, won at Distance & Class.
9.00 (Class 4) Khun John (4/1) 33% Place at Distance, 39% Place on All Weather, 45% Place in handicaps, 33% win & 50% place at Course, won & 57% Place at Class.

A very good day yesterday at Epsom 3 of the 7 winners plus double figure placed horses, 1 winner and 2nd’s galore at Haydock and 2 winners at Beverley.
Winners: 10/1, 9/1, 11/2, 5/1, 8/11, 8/13.
Placed: 20/1, 11/1, 10/1, 10/1, 8/1, 8/1, 4/1, 5/2, 5/2.
Win = 35%, Place = 66%

2.50 (Class 6) Uncle Timmy (7/2) has won 1-1 at Course, won 2 of last 4 at Distance, won 2 of 5 handicaps & won on Ground & won at Class.
3.20 (Class 3) All horses have an average of 20% win on the ground, none have won at the Class. Kingsgate Choice (7/2) 43% win and 57% place at Distance. Royal Bajan (7/1) won 2 of last 4 at Distance, Course winner. Taurus Twins (7/1) won last 2 at Course.
3.50 (Class 5) Veloce (11/8) won & 75% Place at Distance, 71% Place in handicaps, 100% Place at Course & 100% Place at Class.
4.20 (Class 5) Sir Trevor (Non-runner now). Stellar Express (7/1) won 1-1 at Course, won at Distance, won & placed on Ground. Both won at higher Class.

3.15 (Group 1) Hard Dream (14/1) won 2-2 on Ground, won 2-2 at Distance. French Fifteen (4/1) 50% win & 100% place on Ground, won & placed at Group 1. Saint Baudolino (7/1) won & placed from 2 runs at Course.
4.00 (Group 2) Dunaden (6/4) 44% win & 100% place at Distance, won Group 1, placed 2-3 at Group 2, won & 75% Place on Ground. Aiken (9/4) won 3-3 at Distance, won 1-2 on Ground
4.35 (Group 2) Beyond Desire (5/1) won 2-2 on Ground, won last 2 at Distance. Mar Adentro (14/1) 40% win & 80% place on Ground, placed at Group 1, Course winner.
Tues 22nd May – Nottingham Pointers
No winners yesterday from the 5 horses highlighted at Redcar, just the 16/1 place in Baltic Fizz.
Win = 0%, Place = 20%
The Strawberry One was VERY disappointing at Newton Abbott. I’d piled on for the reasons I mentioned yesterday, plus it looked like the connections were on as she went from 20/1 the night before down to joint favourite at 7/2!

1.45 (Class 5) Sanad (33/1) is the only one to win on G-F and at the Distance and is Course winner. First Bid (9/1) is 67% Place in Handicaps and was 3rd last time at Nottingham on G-F, 50% Place at the Class, and won all 3 previous races in May.
2.45 (Class 6) Divertimenti (14/1) 31% win & 50% place on Ground, Course winner & 75% place there. Boucher Garcon (4/1) has the best recent form at the Distance, 71% Place but they were on Soft or G-S, and 50% Place in handicaps.
3.15 (Class 5) Veloce (4/1) placed 3-3 on Ground, and 2-3 at Distance, 67% place in handicaps, 100% Place at Class. Hallstatt (7/1) the only Course winner & Placed both other times there, 42% Place at Class.
3.45 (Class 4) Al Jabreiah (11/4) the only Ground winner, but 3 are untried and shes won 2 of her 4 races. None are Distance winners. Shannon Spree (9/1) 33% Place in Handicaps.
5.15 (Class 6) Winter Hill (7/1) only G-F winner & won a Class higher. Bitaphon (25/1) the only Class 6 winner. None of the 15 are Distance winners.

Sat 21st April Horseracing – Ayr, Newbury, Thirsk, Wolverhampton & Nottingham

What a strange day yesterday. Across England and Scotland there were 36 races and only 6 favourites won (4 odds-on).
In form trainer Derek Shaw (last 14 days: 3 winners, 1 2nd 3 3rds from 15 runners) has 6 runners today, 4 at Nottingham & 2 at Wolverhampton.
Frankel’s full brother (Noble Mission) makes his 2nd racecourse appearance today, 1.30 Newbury. (11/4)
6.15 Wolverhampton Welcome Approach, 6 times C&D, 4 more than others in that race. (6/1)
Roger Varian sends 1 runner to Wolverhampton, 8.15, Sound Hearts, has 100% record there with Callan onboard, 1-1. (5/1)
4.35 Ayr Kings Grey has placed on his last 6 times, 5 as 2nd. (9/1)
3.10 Newbury Bronterre – Richard Hannon had 4 winners since Wednesday (All Newmarket), and won this 3 of last 5 runnings. (4/6)
3.10 Newbury None of the Greenham runners have won on Soft.
3.25 Ayr (Scottish Grand National) Merigo has 57% win rate, 100% place rate at this course from 7 races, and won this in 2010. (13/2)

Philip Makin is 5 wins for 9 rides for John Dunlop… rides Korngold.
3.15 Thirsk Dubai Dynamo is 6lb below last win, and won this time last year at this course. Currently on long losing run though. (11/1)
8.00 Nottingham Miss Cato has won 3 of her 4 races, 1-1 on turf. (9/4)
